A Simple System to Save Money Every Month
Updated Β· 5 min read
Saving fails when it depends on what is left at the end of the month, because usually nothing is. A small system fixes that.
1. Pick a goal with a number and a date
"Save for a bike" is vague. "Rs 60,000 in 10 months" is a goal. Put it in the savings goal calculator to see the monthly amount.
2. Pay yourself first
Move the savings out on salary day, before spending. Keep it in a separate account so it is not at hand.
3. Know your fixed costs
Rent, bills, school fees and instalments come first. Track bills month by month in the bill tracker, so there are no surprises.
4. A common split to start with
Many people start with about half for needs, a third for wants and the rest for savings, then adjust to their life. If it does not fit, start with any small fixed amount and raise it every few months.
5. Build a safety fund first
Aim for a few months of basic costs before taking risks with the rest.
6. Review once a month
Look at where the money went, cancel what you do not use, and raise the saving when income rises. Small amounts grow, and the compound interest calculator shows how. This is general information, not financial advice.
