Yearly pay

How the conversion works

Everything is based on your yearly pay. An hourly rate becomes yearly pay by multiplying by hours per week and weeks per year. A weekly amount is multiplied by the weeks, and a monthly amount by 12. From the yearly figure the tool works back to every other period, so the numbers always agree with each other.

Using it well

  • Change the hours and weeks to match your real job, such as a 6-day week or part-time hours.
  • Comparing job offers? Convert each one to an hourly rate so they are on the same footing.
  • For taxes on a salary, try the salary tax calculator, and plan your goals with the savings goal calculator.

Frequently asked questions

How do I turn an hourly rate into a yearly salary?

Multiply the hourly rate by the hours you work each week and by the weeks you work in a year. At 40 hours for 52 weeks that is 2,080 hours, so 1,000 per hour is 2,080,000 per year.

How do I turn a monthly salary into an hourly rate?

Multiply the monthly salary by 12 to get the yearly figure, then divide by hours per week × weeks per year. A monthly salary of 100,000 at 40 hours a week is 1,200,000 ÷ 2,080 ≈ 576.92 per hour.

Should I use 52 weeks?

Use 52 if you are paid for every week, including paid holidays. If you take unpaid weeks off, enter the weeks you really work, such as 48, to get a realistic hourly rate.

Is this figure before or after tax?

It is whatever type of number you enter. If you type a gross hourly rate, the answers are gross. Use a tax calculator, such as the Pakistan salary tax calculator, for take-home pay.

What hourly rate should a freelancer charge?

Freelancers should charge more than an employee's equivalent hourly rate, because they pay for their own leave, equipment, slow weeks and taxes. Many add 25–50%.
