How to use it
Choose an image or drop it on the box. Pick the format you need, copy the text and paste it into your code. SVG, PNG, JPG, GIF and WebP all work.
Keep it light
Reduce the file first with the image compressor or the image resizer. To decode Base64 text instead, use the Base64 tool.
Frequently asked questions
What is a Base64 image?
It is the image file written as text. A data URI such as data:image/png;base64,iVBOR... can be placed straight into an HTML src or CSS url(), so the page does not need a separate image file.
When should I use it?
For small icons, logos and email templates where one less request helps. For large photos it is a poor choice because Base64 is about a third bigger than the original and cannot be cached on its own.
Can I shrink the image first?
Yes. Use the image compressor or resizer before converting, so the text is shorter.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The file is read in your browser and nothing is sent.
