How to use the Pomodoro timer
Pick what you want to study, press Start and work without distractions until the timer ends. Then take a short 5 minute break. After four focus sessions you get a longer break. The dots show how many rounds you have finished in the current cycle, and the counters show your total for today.
Why it works
- A fixed end time makes it easier to start, because you only commit to 25 minutes.
- Regular breaks keep your focus high and reduce tiredness.
- Counting sessions shows real progress, which keeps you motivated before exams.
A simple study plan
- Choose one task per session. Write it in the box above.
- Keep your phone away or in silent mode while the timer runs.
- After 4 sessions, take a proper break: walk, eat something, rest your eyes.
When your results come in, use the GPA Calculator or the Marks Percentage Calculator.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Pomodoro Technique?
It is a study method by Francesco Cirillo. You work in focused blocks of 25 minutes called pomodoros, take a 5 minute break after each, and a longer 15 to 30 minute break after four. It helps you avoid burnout and stop putting things off.
Can I change the timings?
Yes. Set your own focus, short break and long break lengths. Some students prefer 50 minutes of focus with 10 minute breaks for harder subjects.
Will the timer work if I switch tabs or lock my phone?
The timer uses the clock, not a counter, so the time stays correct when the tab is in the background. Some phones pause sounds when the screen locks, so keep the screen on if you need the beep.
What should I do in my breaks?
Stand up, stretch, drink water and look away from the screen. Avoid starting social media, because it is hard to stop after 5 minutes.
Are my sessions saved?
Your count for today is saved only in your browser on this device and resets each day. Nothing is uploaded.
