How this reaction time test works
Tap the big box to begin. It turns red while you wait. After a random pause of one and a half to four and a half seconds it turns green, and the clock starts. Tap as fast as you can and your time appears in milliseconds. You play five rounds, then see your average and your fastest round. If you tap while the box is still red, the round restarts.
What your average means
- Under 200 ms: excellent, sharp reflexes.
- 200 to 250 ms: very good, better than most people.
- 250 to 320 ms: typical for a healthy adult.
- Over 320 ms: slower than average today. Tiredness, distractions or a slow screen are common reasons.
Tips for a better score
- Rest your finger just above the screen or mouse. Do not look away between rounds.
- Use the average, not one lucky round. One fast tap can be luck, five rounds are a fairer picture.
- Test at the same time of day on the same device to track real progress.

Frequently asked questions
What is a good reaction time?
For a visual test like this, most people score between 200 and 300 milliseconds. Under 200 ms is excellent, and under 150 ms is rare. Your phone screen and touch delay add some time, so a computer mouse is usually a little faster.
Why does the test say 'Too soon'?
If you tap before the box turns green, the round does not count and restarts after a short random wait. The wait is random on purpose, so you cannot guess the moment.
Does my device change the result?
Yes. Screen refresh rate, touch delay, a slow browser and a wireless mouse can all add a few milliseconds. Compare your scores on the same device to see real improvement.
Can I improve my reaction time?
A little. Good sleep, being relaxed but focused, and regular practice help. Caffeine, tiredness and distractions make scores worse. Gamers and sportspeople often score better because they practise quick decisions.
Is my score saved?
Your best time is saved only in your browser on this device. Nothing is sent to any server. You can share your result as an image if you want to challenge friends.
