How to split a PDF

Add your PDF, pick a way to split it and press the button. With Page ranges you decide exactly which pages go into each new file. Every N pages is handy for long scans, and One file per page separates every page. If the result is more than one file, you receive them together in a ZIP.

Ranges explained

  • 1-3 means pages 1, 2 and 3. 5 means only page 5. 8- means page 8 to the last page.
  • Each comma starts a new file: 1-2, 3-5 gives two files.

Good to know

  • Pages are copied, not re-drawn, so quality and text are unchanged.
  • Only want some pages in a single new file? Use Extract PDF Pages. To delete pages, use Remove PDF Pages.
  • To join the parts again, use Merge PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF sent to a server?

No. Splitting happens inside your browser. The original file and the new parts stay on your device.

How do I get several files from one PDF?

Choose 'Page ranges' and separate the parts with commas. For example 1-3, 4-6, 7- creates three files. Or choose 'Every N pages' or 'One file per page'. When there is more than one file you get a single ZIP to download.

Can I split by a number of pages, for example every 10 pages?

Yes. Choose 'Every N pages' and type the number. The last file holds whatever pages are left.

Do the new files keep the same page size and quality?

Yes. Pages are copied as they are, so text stays sharp and searchable.

The tool says my PDF is protected. What now?

A password protected PDF cannot be split here. Open it with the password in a PDF viewer and save an unprotected copy first.
