How to run a fair draw
Put one name per line (commas also work), choose how many winners, then press Pick. A short shuffle shows names flicking by, then the winner appears. With 'Don't pick the same name again' ticked you can run the first, second and third prize in a row.
Good uses
- Classroom turns, office raffles and giveaways, deciding who pays or who goes first.
- Prefer a visual wheel? Try spin the wheel. Need groups instead of winners? Use the team splitter.
- For numbers rather than names, use the random number generator.
Frequently asked questions
Is the pick really random?
Yes. The tool uses your browser's secure random number generator, and every name that is still in the pool has the same chance.
What does 'Don't pick the same name again' do?
Names that have already won are left out of the next rounds, so you can draw first, second and third prize one after another without repeats. Start over puts everyone back.
Can I pick several winners at once?
Yes. Enter how many winners you want. They are always different people within one pick. If you ask for more than are left, you get everyone who is left.
How is this different from the wheel?
The spin-the-wheel tool is a visual wheel with a spin. This picker is made for fast fair draws of several winners from a long list, with a history of rounds.
Are my names stored anywhere?
No. The list stays on your device and is gone when you close the page.
