Add the file, choose where the number goes and how it looks, then press Add numbers and download. The example in the panel shows the text that will appear on the first numbered page.
Handy formats
- {n} gives plain numbers: 1, 2, 3.
- Page {n} of {total} gives Page 3 of 12.
- - {n} - gives - 3 -.
Skipping a cover page
Set First page to number to 2 so the cover stays clean. Then set Start counting at to 1 if the second page should be called page 1. The {total} value counts only the numbered pages.

Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The numbers are added inside your browser and the new file is created on your device.
Can I show 'Page 3 of 12'?
Yes. Type Page {n} of {total} in the format box. {n} becomes the page number and {total} becomes the number of pages.
Can numbering start from a later page or a different number?
Yes. Set 'First page to number' to skip a cover page, and 'Start counting at' for a different first number. For example, skip page 1 and start the next page at 1.
Will it work on pages that are turned sideways?
Yes. Numbers are placed as you see the page, even if the page is rotated.
Does it change the rest of the page?
No. The number is written on top of the page. Everything else stays as it was.
