How to add a watermark to a PDF
Add your PDF, choose Text or Picture, set how big and how faint it should be, and press Add watermark and download. The mark is placed in the centre of every page, on top of the content.
Choosing a good watermark
- Use a see-through level between 15 and 30 percent so the page stays easy to read.
- Words like CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, COPY or a client name are common. A 45 degree angle is easy to spot without hiding the text.
- For a logo, a transparent PNG looks cleanest. Keep it around 30 to 50 percent of the page width.
Keep your original
The watermark is written into the new file. Keep the original unmarked file somewhere safe. You may also want page numbers or a signature on the same document.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded to add the watermark?
No. The watermark is drawn inside your browser. Your file and your logo stay on your device.
Can I use my own logo?
Yes. Choose 'Picture' and add a PNG or JPG. Transparent PNG logos work best. Set the size and how faint it should be.
Can the watermark be removed again?
A watermark is written onto the page, so it is not meant to be removed by the person who receives the file. Always keep your original file without the watermark.
What do angle and see-through level do?
Angle turns the text, 45 degrees is the classic diagonal stamp. See-through level (opacity) controls how faint it is, so the page underneath stays readable.
Will it work on pages that are sideways?
Yes. The watermark follows the way you see each page.
